„The Robinsons of Mantsinsaari“ tells the story of two elderly men who are the last residents of a now-Russian-controlled island on Lake Ladoga. Although they‘re sole inhabitants on the islands, neither speaks to the other: one is of Belarussian origin, the other of Finnish origin. And between the two, there‘s a long history. Occasionally though, the younger of the two men climbs up on a hill during the evening to see whether light still burns at his neighbour‘s.

In coproduction with WDR in association with arte, making movies (FI), YLE (FI) and Belsat TV (PL). Supported by SES (FI).
